Default Asterisk -> Broadvoice CONFIG CHANGE REQUIRED as of 3/5

I noticed that my BV outbound was dead. Inbound OK. Noticed this on the Asterisk mailing list just afterwards: (crosspostings are lame, but this one is important!)

Subject: [Asterisk-Users] BroadVoice configuration changes for Outbound

Today, We have added INVITE Authentication. This seems to bring a large amount of problems to people in the way
since they can't make outbound calls. Here's what needs to be done. You need to add three variables to your
peers or friends, username, authuser, and secret.

username=<phonenumber>
authuser=<phonenumber>
secret=<registration password>

glomph,

I can only assume that this solved the problem for you.

Thank you for posting this here. I have made it sticky, so that it gets the prominence it deserves.

Yes, the fix worked immediately. I only wish that Broadvoice had mailed the BYOD people (as they have in the past) warning of this change!

I have attempted this configuration. It may work all and well, but then my phones can't communicate with asterisk.

What additional protocols would I need in my sip.conf under the [polycom] in order to allow for both the username secret needed with my phone number with broadvoice, and the one needed with my phones and asterisk.

The polycom config has no direct relation to the broadvoice one. The changes referred to here are for the [broadvoice] section only!
Be sure you are allowing the ulaw codec on BOTH of these configs.

In March, BV changed some stuff on their SIP registry service, requiring the specified change for outbound calls to function properly. Nothing to do with the current mess on BV.
